Database Update

Lots more entries in the database (see below), including the expanding world of races, devices and locations. And I've continued with my first listen to the Audio Visuals series.

Cloud of Fear has been the best Audio Visual story yet. The dialogue is very witty in the early parts and then effortlessly switches to a more sombre mood. It feels very plausibly like a real episode of the TV series. Lots of good acting and the sound production is again top notch, particularly the music. I found Shadow World to be a more average villainous storyline, although it introduces some more adult themes of drug addiction and elements that recur in later stories. Nevertheless, the average standard of Audio Visuals has rapidly become very good so it's nothing to complain about. Shadow World also has a surprising ending, even more surprising as a note to end the season on. I won't spoil it for you.

Maenad was quite a surprise itself. An essentially companionless story, an idea which I've always liked, which relies much more on character interactions than action or end of the universe moments. In the wrong hands it could have been terribly dull and hammy, but it came out very engaging and they managed to create a great criminally insane psychopath, who takes centre stage on many occasions. Possibly my new favourite AV. It's also nice to have a random Draconian Ambassador thrown into the mix, there's a race that's easy to envisage whilst listening.

Recent additions to the database - Cavendish Productions, Doctor Who and the Mongatronman, DNA, Tea and Diplomacy, The Classy Cafe, FloorTen Audio, Regeneration of the Daleks, Jubilee, The Mobius Trap, Munchmedia, Path of the Jagaroth, OmniPictures, Flashbang, Sigma Phi Kappa, The Moons of Zorbos, The Zorbosian Invasion of Mars, Destiny of Zorbos, TARDIS Library, Project W, Teenz Inc, The Unwanted Secret, Cloud of Fear, Shadow World, Maenad.
