The first incarnation of this site was Botcherby's fan audios database. It started at the end of March 2008 with a view to compile a list of all the fan made Doctor Who audio plays/dramas, along with some basic information. Being on Wordpress made it easy to blog recent releases. The idea was to act as an easily accessible hub of information to promote peoples work. For the first couple of years there were also a number of interviews and articles.
Botcherby's was run by one person (me) and lack of time eventually killed the blogging at the end of 2010, and delayed updates to the database. But I always wanted to create something better and so in September 2011 Nerva Beacon was born. It's the same site in principle but with a few extensions. On 9th November 2011 the site was announced open on Gallifrey Base.
